Color Trends: Holiday House NYC
I just started attending the Holiday House NYC Show House as part of my annual design must see. While each room was beautifully done, there did not seem to be a common design trend except in color usage. As part of this year’s show house, Benjamin Moore colors were required to be listed, used and promoted as part of each designer’s space.
Interestingly, this useful information on how to set up a also for both consumers and designers was kept on the QT. There were almost no Instagram posts and Benjamin Moore did not even promote its affiliation with this great cause.
As a painter decorator, I found it very interesting to see what top designers are using and the commonality of color in today’s market. Not hard to imagine but black dominated as a top choice and especially color 2132-10. I also noticed an emergence of deep chocolate brown reminiscent of the late 80’s, early 90’s love affair with brown and blue. But this time it was paired with Parisian yellow and creams. I did not see rusts, greens or earthy tones on the scene despite this emerging palette. Calm seems to be the new white and my personal favorite take-away – I finally know what color is considered Tiffany Blue in the BM deck. (Scuba Green 2046-50).
