Charish: Karen’s Pet Peeve Is A Ceiling Don’t
We’re back with a new guest tastemaker for some quick-fire questions and a mini-curation of some fab Chairish finds!
This week, we are joined by New Jersey-based interior designer Karen B. Wolf. For 10 years, Karen has dazzled her clientele with divine, yet functional spaces that feature sublime neutrals paired with raucous pops of color and pattern. Karen’s also a certified design mystic, holding a marketing degree with specific training in Trends Analysis (seriously, how cool is that?!). If the cold winter has got you feeling blah, this maven’s Chairish picks are sure to conjure up the essence of warmer locales. Read on to discover the insanely chic souvenirs Karen schlepped back from Morocco and the formal ceiling trend she’s ready to put out to pasture.
Last show you binge watched?
Berlin Babylon. I love historical period shows, especially from the 20’s and 30’s. The series is a Neo-noir crime drama that takes place in Berlin in the late 20’s. The costumes, architecture and sets ooze with decadence, glam, and mystique.
Coolest vintage piece in your house?
The last (and only) time I went to Morocco, I found these beautiful clay antique tagines. I have been looking for more to add to my small collection. I love that my collection has color, is hand-crafted and is unique to the country.
Ultimate style icon?
I would consider my style to be an elevated boho chic. Kate Hudson is my go-to for her effortless fashion look, not to mention an amazing female role model, mompreneur and boss babe.
Pet peeve:
The answer: “No.” As a designer, we need to be problem solvers with “yes” energy. I just cannot take “no” for an answer, and will relentlessly dig for the solution until I feel it is resolved.
What’s a current trend you hope doesn’t exist in 100 years?
I must say…coffered ceilings. I am really not a fan. I would take wide shiplap on the ceiling and beams any day over formal square boxes.
